Fall Foliage--South Central Pennsylvania

I did another fall foliage trip last Saturday to Caledonia State Park and Michaux State Forest in South Central Pennsylvania. The weather wasn't the greatest most of the time but I managed to get some great photos.

West Virginia Fall Foliage

I recently took a two day road trip to enjoy the beautiful fall foliage in the mountains of West Virginia. Some areas didn't have much color yet, while other areas had vivid color. Here are some of my favorite photos:

Once in a Blue Moon

I was out of town for the full moon last Friday but I was able to get some great shots of the almost-full moon.  I had to wait a while for the moon to rise over the mountain near my house, but it was worth the wait!

Milky Way Galaxy

Last week I took a trip up to northern Pennsylvania and got to experience an awesome sight. Cherry Springs State Park is out in the middle of nowhere at an elevation of 2300 feet. This makes it one of the best places on the east coast for stargazing. I got some really great photos so I thought I'd share them with you, especially since it's been over a month since I posted anything.  I started out taking photos almost straight up in the sky and then I followed the Milky Way to the horizon.

New River Gorge Bridge, West Virginia

Well, I must share some photos of my crazy adventure last Thursday. The New River Gorge Bridge is near Fayetteville, WV. It's an imposing 876 ft. high and 3030 feet long and it spans the New River Gorge below.  What a sight. They close it the 2nd weekend in October for Bridge Day when BASE jumpers jump of the bridge and folks rappel down from it, too. I knew all this about it but until recently I never knew about the catwalk underneath that you can actually walk across and that's 851 ft above the river. It's called Bridge Walk and I was brave and I walked it on Thursday. Now, I'm not afraid of heights but that was kind of scary up there! I really didn't mind it if I stood still and looked down or sat on the catwalk, but for the first part, it was a little freaky walking along. The catwalk vibrated from all the traffic overhead and I guess that was it. But, somewhere between 1/3 to 1/2 of the way across, I got over that. Here are some photos to give you an idea of what it was like:

The New River is a popular spot for rafting and kayaking. Here are a few photos of the action:
