Paw Paw Tunnel, C&O Canal

I wanted to share a photo that's popular with my friends and family. This is the Paw Paw Tunnel along the C&O Canal in Western Maryland. Most people photograph it from the outside but I thought I'd try something different and photograph it from the inside. Enjoy!

Goldfinch

I set up a finch feeder a few weeks ago and the goldfinches have been eating away. I set up my camera in my kitchen and took some photos yesterday. Here are a couple shots of the little guy who was dining there yesterday evening.

Super Moon!

Thought I'd share a photo of the "super moon" that I took last night. I forgot to take my tripod with me when I visited my mom this weekend so I had to improvise. I used a metal rake to prop up my camera as I leaned against a flag pole. It worked pretty well! Having a 300mm zoom lens is great for capturing moon photos. Enjoy!

Space Shuttle Discovery

For all you space fans out there, I want to share a photo of the space shuttle Discovery that I took last year.  The shuttle is now on display at the National Air & Space Museum at Dulles Airport in Virginia. If you're interested in space and flight, you'll love the museum. They have some great exhibits. The shuttle was totally amazing. Seeing how big it is up close and personal was a treat. I'll post more close-up photos in the future.

In my dad's honor...

My dad died very suddenly on Tuesday and his funeral was yesterday. It was also Flag Day yesterday. My dad was a proud Marine who loved to fly his flag so I thought it would be great to honor him one last time by flying his flag on the day of his funeral. I'll miss my dad very much.

Country Churches Part 2

In my last post, I commented about Lybarger Church so I thought I'd post some photos. The church is in Bedford County, PA. There were 5 Lybargers who fought in the Revolutionary War and there was a special memorial to them in front of the church.

Country Churches

A few years ago I started driving around the countryside in Western Maryland and up into Pennsylvania to photograph the pretty little country churches that are in this area.  Here are a couple of my favorites:

Zion Church, Wellersburg, PA

Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church near Cumberland, MD

I'm glad I got some good photos of Pleasant Grove because the church closed a couple years ago and it was bought and converted to an antiques market.  It's not quite the same!
